I'm very imprest in the study and cultivation of yams especially for commercial purpose. Gas as an annual tuber crop is produced in large quantity and quality in the rural areas across the agricultural states, bravo to our local farmers.
The farmers also need N.P.K fertilizer for cultivation of yams. They know less about nutrients needed in the soil to produce yams and in that case, many of the farmers used urea fertilizer instead. Why using urea, the yams produced well but not strong in tubers as the tubers normally break into peices during harvesting. And in the store, the tuber tend to get rust faster because of the reactions of the urea fertilizer been used from the farm.
Yams perished on the way while ontransport by the traders. And the transport is needed seriouly as yams are cheaper in the villagies where they're produced but with few buyers. Good railroad can control these two problems as well if the railroads are to be construct from the rural areas to the urbans where yams are much needed but costly because of hardship faced by traders in handling the business of yams from rural to urban areas.
Everybody know the nature of our soil and the agronomic practices involved in the production of yam so no mechanisation needed than the inputs with infrastructures.
